Amazing Katy Perry Costume

I decided that my husband and I were going to be Katy Perry and Russell Brand for Halloween. His costume was fairly easy, we threw together some rocker clothes, a wig and some eyeliner, but mine was a little more involved!

First I made the tutu. I Googled the directions and they seemed pretty easy. I bought the spools of tulle in the colors I needed and the elastic online and made a simple tutu.

Then I bought a plain white corset from Frederick’s of Hollywood and began decorating it to look like Katy’s outfit in her California Girls music video. I bought the candy pieces and stickers from Jo Ann Fabrics and Michaels. I made the ice cream cone and big candy piece with Styrofoam and sparkly fabric.

For the cupcake and candy swirl I used felt and ribbon. I also glued some ribbon around the bust line and waistline. I made sure to cover the whole corset, the more candy the better! I cannot sew well so the only sewing I did was to hold the big pieces on, everything else was glued on with hot glue.

Next I bought a cheap pair of plain white heels from the Halloween store and used puffy paint to decorate them like the candy dots that come on strips of paper. This step was very easy and came out great!

Most of my jewelry I found on Etsy and the stockings and wig were purchased at the Halloween store.

This is by far the best Halloween costume I have ever made/worn! I was thrilled with how it turned out and I hope you enjoy it as well!
