Cool DIY Father and Son Costume: Cranky the Crane and Diesel 10

My husband Arsenio made these awesome Cranky the Crane and Diesel 10 character costumes for himself and our son, Egon, from scratch by sculpting cardboard. Egon’s a huge Thomas fan, so these two grumpy characters were a natural choice for Halloween costumes!  We both had an awesome time making them – him shaping the bodies, and even making a working crane arm and ‘Pinchy’ the claw for Diesel 10.

I helped paint, and drew the faces of the characters as a finishing touch.  We had a great time at the parade in our poor, hurricane-swept Brooklyn neighborhood last night, and got so many delighted responses, mainly from small boys and their families!  SO worth all the time and effort!
