I’m 20 years old, and I hadn’t dressed up for Halloween in YEARS, so when my friend invited me to her annual Halloween party and a costume was required, I panicked a little because I HATE store bought costumes.
But a month before the party, we were discussing the 40’s in my American Pop Culture class and Rosie the Riveter was mentioned. That’s when I decided that I was going to be Rosie for Halloween.
The costume was pretty simple since I had most of it already. I had jeans, I had a red bandanna I had red lipstick, and I had boots. All I needed was a denim shirt. I was able to find a blue shirt at Goodwill (it wasn’t denim, but it was close enough) for less than $5. I added a Rosie the Riveter pin that my mom had to the collar to tie it all together.
I got tons of compliments at the party (as soon as I stepped out of my car, my friend said, “ARE YOU ROSIE THE RIVETER?”) and it’s definitely my favorite Halloween costume I’ve ever had.
