Took an old robe and cut off the hood and added gold trim on the lining. Then went and had a hood made up for it with the same trim as the robe. I then went to the DIY store and bought a role off black plastic and cut out the front of the costumes. Added the gold symbols and made some simple shoulder pads. I took a few days but well worth it.
My wife was laughing at me the whole time and my two co-workers were tired of hearing about the costume. They went to the party with the intention of picking on my costume until they saw it and had to admit it looked pretty good. I actually enjoyed the fact noone knew who I was.
I went to the next party by train and wore the cotume on it. It’s amazing how scared Japanese people got when they saw it.
